<![CDATA[BETTER DAYS THIS WEEKEND?]]>Tue, 07 Feb 2012 16:20:11 -0800http://mikefelten.com/1/post/2012/02/better-days-this-weekend.htmlPicture
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 10TH -Paul and I will make a rare visit to Normal! Hope this kicks off a better weekend than the last one.

Picture
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 11TH. 10PM. Paul and I will be back in Chicago at El's Kitchen 1450 W. Webster. Take in a flick at Webster Place and come over for some barbecue. They have a cooker on the premises. This is a new place for me, but it seems to be well worth the try
Picture
SUNDAY FEBRUARY 12TH 9PM. If you want the tried and true, come and see us again at the Redline. Probably last show with Paul this trip. Dolph Chaney will be back on the bill again. We always have a great time in Rogers Park.
Picture
Monday February 13th 8pm. I'll be part of Michael Riser's Rising Stars at the Grafton Pub on North Lincoln. Don't know if my star is rising or setting, but I'm going to do a couple of songs. Why not? It's Monday night.

Picture
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 15TH -ART BAR - MILWAUKEE 9PM. If all else fails, I will drag my battered ego back up to Milwaukee where I always have a good time. David Towle is ailing and I'll miss him this time. But come out and I promise to play some blues for the Packers and my floundering career moves. Woo Hoo! Drink specials are always cool at the Art Bar and they will see you mystery beer in a brown paper bag!

<![CDATA["HEY, LET'S HAVE SOME LIVE MUSIC!"]]>Sun, 05 Feb 2012 08:39:58 -0800http://mikefelten.com/1/post/2012/02/hey-lets-have-some-live-music.html
"Hey let's have live music!" Yep, that sound like a good idea. All these kids will play for free. They like/love doing it. Since we don't have any customers of our own, they'll bring all their relatives and friends and we'll have a business here. Given our personalities and hospitality , we couldn't give away free cures for cancer.
If we can't invest in a sound system, they can scrounge one up.
But, O.K., we bought our own outfit and some mics. Only our sound guy will operate it, when he isn't cleaning the toilets or stocking the beer cooler. I can't do it, because I am the club owner and I don't know how.
The show is supposed to start, so the musicians will stand around on stage waiting, hoping for a level. Do you think we should turn off the jukebox or just turn it down? The fourteen televisions with the monster truck rally replays shouldn't distract from the music should it?
Gee, the vocals are a little garbled? What's wrong with this guy?
The bands friends are leaving. They are complaining that they can't get a drink and the toilets are stopped up. You think the band could help? They had to move the tables and chairs to get to the stage. What wrong with these guys? I can't make any money if these guys don't pitch in.
Had a terrible night and I hope they are happy. They are keeping me from closing while they load all that equipment they brought. They must own a Guitar Center and brought it all along. One of them mentioned that they are going to rehearse Tuesday and work on some new material.
Can't they just get their crap out of here. What are they waiting for - me to thank them for showing up?

On the radio. Played downtown at Razor and Di's new digs. They have a showcase studio that let's you watch the passer-bys. I watched the snow fall on the Viagra Triangle and yodeled for a while. They play some great tunes too. If you want to hear something new, tune in.

Rumors have it that Jameson goes for $3 and there are a lot of other drink specials too. As they say on NPR - "Good Times"

<![CDATA[Thanks Art Bar!]]>Thu, 08 Dec 2011 08:24:21 -0800http://mikefelten.com/1/post/2011/12/thanks-art-bar.htmlWonderful show last night at the Art Bar in Milwaukee with David Towle and his old-timey banjo (Hope you got to work on time). Wound up the night with an encore -pulled out "Young Boy Blues". I haven't done that one since that freezing winter night in Twin Lakes w/ Matt Stevens. Folks seemed to like it. Maybe I should add it to the set.
It hasn't been there since "Bellyful of Soul" days.
